More about me

In my 16 years in the design industry, I have had some amazing creative opportunities but more importantly I have had the chance to work with and learn from some of the best in the business. With these great people I have collaborated on some big magazines: Inside EntertainmentInternational Architecture & DesignMaxim CanadaSirThe Reporter, and Ski Canada. I have worked with national newspapers including: The Globe & MailThe Toronto Star and Metro Daily. I have developed national campaigns and strategies for brands such as: World Mastercard, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, L’oreal, Stolichnaya Vodka, Diesel, Sony, and American Express. And I have also had the chance to work on some amazing Canadian projects with the likes of The Toronto International Film Festival, The Canadian International Autoshow, Parks Canada, Historica Canada, and Canada’s Walk of Fame.
Along the way I’ve dabbled in so many different roles that I think it’d be hard to say just what it is I can do. Instead a few things I have done: graphic design, production design, art direction, creative direction, colour correction, photoshop wizardry, illustration (classic & digital), web design, advertising design, way finding design, promotional marketing, campaign strategy, web design, social media marketing, copy writing, launch strategy, game design, prop styling, set styling, and sometimes I make things out of wood.

I was extremely pleased with the design work that Eric did for the Canada’s Walk of Fame Commemorative Magazines. His creative was sophisticated, impactful and innovative, and the profiles beautifully portrayed the unique personalities of our extraordinary Inductees and award recipients. Eric was very professional and accommodating throughout the entire project, and a great pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Eric for any creative or design project and look forward to future collaborations.

During my brief but productive turn as editorial partner with designer Eric McBain, I found him to be imaginative, inquisitive, alarmingly inventive and a true calming influence. McBain can think on his feet; a talent that is more than essential in the fast-paced design world. Under the quiet exterior lies a roiling creative talent that is both evocative and elegant. I spent an entire day shooting with him in an open and empty Rogers Centre, and it was one of the most Zen experiences of my career. I look forward to our next enterprise.

Eric is a great designer. We’ve worked on dozens of projects over the last few years, from launching magazines to coming up with new approaches for existing print and digital titles. He’s fast, creative, undramatic and always great to work with.
