My favourite thing about having a flexible freelance schedule would have to be the capacity to pursue passions while still taking care of business. One of my passions right now is giving my time and energy to causes that mean a great deal to me. I initially started (and continue) with volunteering with the Canadian Cancer Society, helping them out with design and layouts. Now I’m going one step further and joining the MS Ride this September in Toronto. I’ve signed on as a rider, meaning I should probably get some of those funny shorts and my bike down out of the rafters soon. But I’m not riding alone, I happen to be riding with an amazing group of friends under the team name “It’s Time to Get Rid of the Car”. While we are of course seeking people to donate directly to this great cause – and to see me in funny shorts – we’re also going to have some great fundraisers this summer to further try and lure your dollars for this great cause.
